Want to get involved in Motorsport?  - Live in the Northwest?

KDMCs 100+ members regularly participate in many forms of affordable Motorsport including:

- Compete on timed tests (autotests) round cones on private land

- Go on navigational rallies (scatters) through the lanes

- Marshal in the forests

- Pub based activities, usually on a Monday, such as table top rallies, talks and quizzes

The Club regularly runs special stages for rallies, including Wales Rally GB.

In 2018 our major events will include a Targa Rally, which can be completed in your standard road car. Our two regular main events are a road rally for pre 1981 cars known as the Tour of Cheshire and the Plains Rally for stage rally cars which takes place in the forests of Wales.

If you want to know more or get involved let us know. We are a friendly bunch of guys and girls, happy to help you get into motorsport at whatever level suits you whether it is competing, marshalling or whatever.

Alan Jolley - R.I.P.

We are very sad to report that Alan Jolley passed away on Friday, 9th November, 2018 at the Willows Nursing home, Mobberley after a short illness.

Alan was nearly always referred to as A.J. and had been an extremely active member of KDMC.

Over the years he took up various roles on the KDMC committee, and finally became an extremely proud and purposeful President for 19 years, steering KDMC from a small acorn into a large oak tree within the rallying circles.

Alan's motor sporting background as a competitive navigator goes back to the early 1960s where he competed very successfully on many Motoring News events. It was while competing on those rallies that he gained a lot of experience about rally organising. Needless to say in 1964 with his effervescent enthusiasm he masterminded the new KDMC Plains Rally' which of course was a road rally in it's early days. Alan ran a tight ship and with his very successful team they shot to great heights. The event attracted a lot of praise and the following year was selected as a round in the Castrol Motoring News Rally Championship which lasted for many years, finally handing over the reins to a new clerk of the course when it became a forest type rally in 1974.

Alan always attended KDMC events, whether assisting in setting up the spectator stage on the Plains Rally, organising his band of Ecurie Cod Fillet, VIP marshals for the Tour of Cheshire or acting as a steward on many events. His enthusiasm never waned for KDMC and even in his last few days, he enquired how the club was progressing.

A very sad loss indeed. Our sincere heart felt condolences to Barbara and family.

RALLY

Lots of our members are active on the rallying scene, KDMC Organises 3 rallys throught the year :

  • THE PLAINS RALLY
  • THE TOUR OF CHESHIRE
  • THE KDMC TARGA RALLY

MARSHALS

Marshals are the backbone of motorsport, basically events dont happen without the  army of volunteers needed to make it happen

AUTOTESTING

Autotesting requires the driver to drive his car around a set course defined by cones as quickly as possible.

The cones are used to create 'garages', 'gates' or tight corners. Penalties (usually 5 seconds) are given for any hit. Any penalties are added to the total time taken. Failure to 'stop-astride' lines also carries a penalty.
