Marshalling 2021

As we start to move out of lockdown and Motorsport is preparing to restart again, I thought I’d give you an update of events coming up this year and how we will conduct “Signing-on” etc

Signing on for our smaller events will be done in a very similar style to last year with us asking you to complete a simple electronic form in advance of the meeting

• Allocation to posts will be undertaken either prior to the event or remotely

• Written briefings and instructions will be sent through electronically in advance of the meeting. Briefings will be carried out by voice notes, telephone or other electronic means. Alternatively, in an open area whilst at all times respecting social distancing and with availability of hygiene measures.

Our season will start on the 17th May 2021 when the clubs Grass Autotest Championship starts. We will be looking for marshals for all of these rounds and teg dates can be found in the Championship Calendar

On Sunday 4th July we will be running The Tim Sargeant Memorial Test at Demon Tweaks. We will be looking for marshals and time keepers to help with this.

Saturday 14th August 2021 will see our Forest Rally “The Plains Rally” run around the Dolgellau / Bala area. We will be looking for a strong turnout of members to cover a variety of roles from Marshalling in the forests to helping at Service and Rally HQ.  Once we have more information of these roles the organising team will be reaching out asking for help so please keep the date clear in your diaries.

The 25th September 2021 will see this years “Tour of Cheshire” run. Mike Harrison and his team are busy organising this and again their Chief Marshal will be reaching out once they know exactly what manpower is needed.

Sunday 24th October 2021 will be “The Booth’s Hall Autosolo/PCA” at Booths Hall in Knutsford, again we will need Timekeepers and Marshals for this event.

The following Saturday 30th October 2021 we have been asked to run a stage on the Cambrian Rally in the North Wales area. Phil Mostyn will be the stage commander for this whilst I act as his deputy. We will be looking for in stage marshals and radio crews. Once we know which stage we are running and the times we will be in touch

On Saturday 13th November I have been asked to be Stage Commander, along with Andy Redhead and Mark Adams acting as Deputy/ Stage Safety Officer, on the “Rallynuts Severn Valley Rally” This is to be held in the Myherin and Hafren plantations. Again, we don’t know yet which stage we are running yet but will be looking for in stage marshals and radio operators. Once I have more information I will be in touch.

Finally, the 21st November 2021 will be our own “Knutsford Targa” at Severn Sisters Track. Graham and his team and busy planning this and the event’s Chief Marshal will be in touch as soon as more information is available.

There may well be other events yet as organisers look to reschedule those that have already be postponed so please keep

I’m sure like me you are all itching to get back out and participating in some motorsport be it as an Organiser, Marshal or Competitor and fingers crossed everything will go to plan and all the events will happen. I look forward to seeing you all out there and Competitors please consider coming out to marshal on some of these events as without marshals they won’t happen!
